The New Generation of Web-Surfing

Hey Everybody!  I would like to share this article that I found about a new way to search the web easier for the baby boomers.

It use to be thought that computers were just for the younger crowd.  But now the baby boomers have gotten into the act.  A recent Pew Internet report found that 34 percent of Americans age 65 and older go online.  EonsThis is a 5 percent increase from just a year earlier.  This constant growing number has already had an effect on the web.

This past July the founder of online employment site Monster.com, Jeffery Taylor developed a social networking site, Eons.com which is aimed at inspiring baby boomers throughout the world.  The site allows for people to join groups that range from Home and Garden to Sports and Outdoors.

Even the media company is making way for the baby boomers, with cRANKy.com, “the first age-relevant search engine.”  This search page is designed to process requests that specify to computer users over the age of 50.  This site was launched in early January, and its goal is to simplify things by limiting search results to four listings and relevant to the target audience. (You and Me)  Because do you want to scroll forever? cRANKY.com

With sites such as Eons.com and cRANKy.com making the web easier for us to search and interact with others life is just beginning. -Lavasoft
